Kesgrave Town Council has warned pedestrians and cyclists using the crossing at the Bell Lane junction with Main Road that pedestrian barriers have been removed.

Following a series of improvement works at the junction this summer, which included resurfacing work, footpath reconstruction and traffic light upgrades, the town council has reported that the pedestrian barrier previously in place on the corners had been removed.

It has now urged youngsters using it on their way to and from school, to be aware of the updated junction.

A town council spokeswoman said: “With the work being scheduled during the school holidays for obvious reasons; parents may not be aware until their children return to school in a few weeks that the pedestrian guard rails have been removed. We would like to raise parent’s awareness of extra care needed when approaching this junction on the cycle and footpaths.”

The second phase of improvement work at the junction of Main Road and Beech Road is ongoing, with temporary traffic lights in place while work takes place.
