HIGH winds which are buffeting Ipswich today forced the closure of parks in the town.
Ipswich Borough Council has appealed for people to stay out of parks today because of the danger of falling branches. The move came after a horse chestnut tree came down near the round pond in Christchurch Park.
Christchurch Park, Holywells Park, Bourne Park, Alexandra Park and Stone Lodge Park were all closed this afternoon.
People were also advised to stay out of Chantry park and other parks which the council cannot lock because of the danger.
A council spokesman said: “We would encourage people to use extra caution given the weather conditions today and ask them to avoid using these parks.”
