A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of an Ipswich woman after she failed to turn up for a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court today.

Marquitta McKenzie was given a two year prison sentence suspended for two years, a 12 month drug rehabilitation order and a rehabilitation activity requirement just before Christmas last year after she admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine.

Sentencing her in December Judge Rupert Overbury said she appeared to be motivated to take part in a drug rehabilitation order but warned her that if she didn’t take the opportunity he was giving her she could end up in prison.

Today McKenzie was due to return to court in relation to breaching the suspended sentence order but failed to attend.

Issuing a warrant for her arrest, Judge Overbury said McKenzie had made “absolutely no effort” to comply with the suspended sentence order.

McKenzie, 32, was arrested after a police raid at her home in Pelican Close, Ipswich on September 17 during which heroin and cocaine were found.
