Do you recognise these overnight intruders at the Ipswich Food Centre in Chevallier Street, Ipswich?

The burglars were captured on the store’s CCTV system breaking into the site, throwing items about, running through the aisles and climbing in the roof.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who recognises the culprits, to come forward. They said this was the second attempted burglary at the European supermarket within just a few days.

A member of staff at the store, Eva, said: “I’m fuming, to be honest, because we work so hard and they have caused all this damage,”

She said there had been an attempted break-in overnight between October 4-5, but the would-be burglars had been scared off by the alarm,

The second incident happened in the early hours of October 8, when the intruders damaged the wiring in the roof both at the front and the back of the store.

Eva said they had tampered with the wiring directly above the display of fresh vegetables and fruit, so that produce was damaged and had to be replaced. They also stole some bottles of drink.

“There are two of them on the CCTV footage. One of them was wearing new Nike trainers, so they are not poor,” she added.

The store has good alarm and security systems and CCTV to combat crime. The building, next to All Saints Church, was formerly a Chinese restaurant and before that it was the Chev nightclub.

Police said they are investigating the incident and looking for witnesses to come forward. If you saw anything suspicious around 12.20am on Monday, October 8, or have any information, call police on 101, quoting crime number 37/57901/18.
