Man banned for drink-driving

A soldier from Wattisham Airfield who was nearly three times the drink-drive limit has been banned from driving for 15 months.

Shomit Limbu, 21, pleaded guilty at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court to drink-driving and having no car insurance on February 4.

When breath-tested Limbu had 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

Limbu was in a Vauxhall Astra at 3.54am when police saw the vehicle take an illegal right turn. He was banned for 15 months and ordered to pay a total of £415 in fines and costs.

In a separate hearing Rhys Martin, of Hawthorn Cottages, Pettistree, near Woodbridge, was also disqualified from driving for 15 months for drink-driving. The 19-year-old admitted the offence which occurred at 1am in Brook Lane, Framlingham. Martin had 73mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. He must also pay £415 in fines and costs.
