A DISTRAUGHT couple is today calling for the return of the wedding rings specially made in preparation for their big day.

Nick Lupton, 40, and his fiancée Gail Foxon, 36, of The Strand, Wherstead had their hearts set on a pair of unique wedding rings and went all the way to Turkey to have the rings custom-made.

They were due to exchange them on their wedding day in December.

They were therefore heart-broken to discover that both the rings – together worth around £3,400 - had been stolen in early hours of Monday .

Miss Foxon said: "Because I am not having an engagement ring, I wanted a wedding ring with diamonds all the way around."

But the rings were stolen after their home was entered while they were sleeping.

Miss Foxon said: "We are feeling absolutely devastated. They are very distinctive and I am hoping they will turn up. I desperately want them back."

They were taken in the burglary, which occurred between 1.20am and 9am on Monday.

Police are asking anyone who was been travelling in Wherstead in an out-of-town direction, or who had been at the marina and had noticed something suspicious, to get in touch.

Anyone with information should call DC Dick Ford at Capel St Mary CID on 01473 383018 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
