Weekend parking prices at the Athena Hall car park on Ipswich Waterfront have been slashed.

From June 4, motorists can park all day on Saturdays and Sundays for £2.50, with the car park open from 8am-midnight.

The move aims to make it easier for visitors to park for events at Holywells Park this summer, as well as helping bring people to the Waterfront.

Ipswich Borough Council leader David Ellesmere said: “We always keep tariffs low and have extended our weekday Quids In £1 promotion in our own town centre car parks and now we want to help visitors to the Waterfront and Holywells.

“This year there are more events on at the park and we want to ensure residents are not inconvenienced by motorists parking in streets nearby. Athena Hall is just a few minutes’ walk from Holywells Park and a weekend day tariff of just £2.50 will ensure that people can keep a bit more money in their pockets to enjoy at concerts, open air theatre and family fun days.”
