The 40ft adult minke was one of three marine mammals that died off the Suffolk coast having been discovered on the beach between the pier and Mannings Amusement Park.

A second adult minke died 20 miles out to sea while a baby minke was discovered washed up near the River Ore at Orford.

A spokesman for Suffolk Coastal District Council said a team from the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme were being sent to remove the whale from the beach sometime tomorrow morning or early afternoon.

“It is not a simple task to be honest,” he said.

“What we are looking to do is move it tomorrow once we have the specific equipment in place. We hope to remove it tomorrow but we are in the hands of the experts who are used to dealing with these situations.”
