First responders raised hundreds of pounds to help their life-saving work through a sponsored charity event.
The Wickham Market Community First Responders (CFR) held a recent “Cycle Wickham Sportive” for cycling enthusiasts, who paid £15 to take part in 25,50 or 75 mile courses around the “beautiful countryside”.
The event, which also offered the riders a hot drink and bacon roll in the village hall, raised £500, which the organisers said “we are so incredibly grateful for”.
CFR Liz Quickenden said: “CFRs are quite simply villagers who give up their time voluntarily to go on duty and respond to any calls that are given to them. They drive their own cars, use their own petrol and give up their evenings and weekends to support the community. So, to have the support of others is amazing.”
CFRs are trained to attend potential life-threatening emergencies in the area they live.
