Queen Street in Ipswich will be filled with bunting, balloons and flags to help the town join in Her Majesty’s big day, which organisers are urging people from across the region to take part in.

The event, which runs from 12 noon- 2pm, coincides with celebrations being held across the country marking the Queen’s birthday.

Organised by, Ipswich Central, the town’s business improvement district, proceedings are set to get underway when town mayor Roger Fern cuts a large birthday cake.

Helen Dodman, marketing manager at Ipswich Central, said: “The bunting, balloons and flags are all ready to go out so that the town can join in the celebrations taking place around the country.

“We’ll have our All About Ipswich deckchairs at the ready so families can bring a picnic along with them and simply relax, meet new people and enjoy the entertainment.”

Businesses in the town have contributed to the event, offering entertainment and refreshments.

“The East of England Co-op has generously sponsored soft drinks for people to enjoy with their cake and Waitrose has provided a hamper to give away to one lucky person attending the event.”

People from around the town as well as visitors are urged to join in the fun, while entertainers and performers are invited to volunteer their services.
