Witnesses sought for Lowestoft assault

LOWESTOFT police are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old boy was assaulted near the bus stops in Waveney Road . The schoolboy was walking from Lowestoft railway station towards the bus stops at about 4:50pm on Thursday when he noticed a man following him.

The schoolboy was walking from Lowestoft railway station towards the bus stops at about 4:50pm on Thursday when he noticed a man following him. The stranger then approached the boy and punched him in the arm and abdomen.

The man is described as white, aged in his mid 20s, with very short gingery- brown hair and a spotty face. He was wearing a black and white striped shirt and black jeans, and is thought to have been travelling on the same Ipswich to Lowestoft train as the boy.

Police also believe there may have been a verbal exchange between the man and a group of youngsters prior to the incident.

Police are asking the man to come forward and would urge witnesses or anyone with further information to contact Lowestoft Police on 01986 835100.
