A WOMAN has died following an accident on the Ipswich-bound A12 slip road at Marks Tey. Essex Ambulance Service was called at 10.46pm, and two ambulances were sent to the scene.

A WOMAN trying to change her tyre died following an accident on the Ipswich-bound A12 slip road at Marks Tey.

The woman, who was driving a blue Peugeot, is believed to be from around the Manningtree area.

Essex Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to the incident which happened around 10pm yesterday.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “Although it's unclear exactly what happened, it's believed that the woman in her 30s was changing a tyre on her car by the side of the road when she was in collision with another car.

“As a result she suffered multiple very serious injuries. Crews on the scene used advanced life support techniques, but unfortunately due to the nature of her injuries she could not be saved.

“She was confirmed dead on the scene.”

An 86-year-old man from a village in the Maldon area of Essex was driving the other vehicle, a red Volkswagen Polo. He escaped without injury.
