MOTORISTS faced delays in Ipswich after a woman collapsed and died behind the wheel of her car.
The incident happened on the A12 at the Copdock interchange at about 5.30pm on Saturday as the woman was travelling on the London bound carriageway.
The woman, aged about 70, is believed to have suffered a heart attack behind the wheel.
Two ambulances were called to the scene and the woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital but later died.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the incident had caused “considerable congestion” as the carriageway had had to remain shut for a short time.
No other cars are thought to have been involved in the incident.
