AN Ipswich woman had to take her own jeans off before she was allegedly raped because they were so tight, a court heard today.

Gary Tyler denies raping the woman in Pin Mill Woods, and claimed she had consented to having sex.

Ipswich Crown Court heard today that Tyler told police he and the woman had been walking along chatting, when she complained she was cold.

Tyler, 35, of Fitzwilliam Close, Ipswich, said: "I put my hand up her top. I made her scream because my hand was cold."

Tyler told police the pair came to a clearing in the wood where a large tree stood with low branches.

"There was a mass of bluebells," added Tyler.

"We started kissing and cuddling and one thing led to another. We were having a laugh, nothing rough about it. She had skin-tight black jeans on and she had to lay on the ground to take them off. She managed to take one leg out of them."

Tyler, a lorry driver, said they had sex and were finally interrupted by the woman's pet dog.

When asked by police if the woman had told him to stop, or tried to push him away Tyler said: "No".

When asked if he had fondled her before having sex, Tyler replied: "I could not put my hand down her trousers because they were so tight."

The woman claimed Tyler had raped her in the woods at about 9.30pm on May 22 this year. The court heard that the alleged victim had once blackmailed a former boyfriend by threatening to complain to the police that he had anal sex with her if he didn't give her money.

The trial continues.
