A WOMAN sustained head injuries during an altercation in Ipswich town centre in the early hours of this morning.

The 25-year-old was treated outside the Job Centre in Silent Street shortly before 2.30am.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics, who had been called by police, had to wait for officers to calm the situation before seeing to the injured woman.

Police said the matter had been a domestic incident.

Three people were arrested at the scene, aged 18, 24 and 31. They were due to be questioned by detectives today.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Ipswich hospital for treatment.

It is not thought her injuries are serious.
