A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which closed the A14 for more than an hour.

At about 9.10pm yesterday a Renault Clio ended up on its roof on the Ipswich-bound carriageway of the road at Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds.

Suffolk police closed the carriageway completely until 10.30pm when one lane was reopened.

The female driver of the car had to be cut free from the wreckage and was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police added that it was thought heavy rain had played a part in the crash.
