A woman, believed to be in her 50s was hit by a car earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called at 3.35pm today, May 26, to an RTC involving a pedestrian and a car along the A1156 Norwich Road, just outside of Ipswich town centre.

Two paramedics attended to the injured pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 50s, who is conscious and breathing, but suffered an ankle injury as a result of the collision. Her injuries at this moment in time are not believed to be life threatening.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after ambulance crews, at around 3.40pm, and remain present on the scene.

Drivers are asked to avoid the road if possible and take alternative routes for their journey this afternoon.
