A WOMAN motorist was killed almost instantly after the space cruiser vehicle she was driving was involved in a horrific collision with a 38-ton articulated lorry.
The two vehicles collided in rush hour traffic at the busy Ixworth/Bardwell junction on the A1088 just outside Bury St Edmunds, at around 5.45pm yesterday.
Desperate roadside attempts by paramedics to revive the woman - thought to be aged 37 from the Bury St Edmunds area - failed, and a doctor pronounced her dead at the scene.
A Suffolk police spokesman said they believe the blue Toyota Space Cruiser driven by the woman may have pulled across the junction in front of the white Mercedes lorry and the two vehicles collided side-on.
