The female driver, believed to be in her 50's, was killed outright after her Volvo car was in collision with a horse transporter in Hamilton Road at the junction of A1304 just before 2 pm.

Her male passenger, thought to be in his late 40's, was taken by ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

Dr Paul Silverston, chairman of Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, who attended, said: "It is a dangerous junction. You expect to see several accidents there over the cause of the year."
