POLICE today appealed for witnesses after an incident on the RAF Lakenheath base yesterday evening.

The incident happened in the car park next to the BX building - a shopping centre on the base - around 7pm to 7.15pm.

A 20-year-old woman was getting into her white Mini car when a man got into the passenger seat of the vehicle.

The 20-year-old got out of the vehicle and an altercation ensued. Her screams attracted the attention of other shoppers who approached and the woman managed to escape and raise the alarm.

A 20-year-old man was subsequently arrested and he is currently being held at Bury St Edmunds police station where he will be interviewed by police.
