Archant

A man stole a woman's purse after breaking into her home in Ipswich.

The man smashed a rear sash window, unlocked the latch and broke in through the dining room of the property in Oxford Road.

The woman was home at the time and investigated what she described to police as “banging and scraping noises”.

As she stood at the top of the stairs, she saw the man look up at her. He apologised and left the house through the front door.

The woman later found out that her pursed had been stolen from her handbag. It contained her bank card, driving licence and a quantity of cash.

The burglary took place at around 11.15am on October 10.

Police have released an e-fit image of the man they would like to track down.

He is described as white, of average build, with black short hair and aged in his 30s. He wore a light grey sweatshirt with light denim jeans and was carrying a white bag, diagonally across his back, with the word ‘Adidas’ embroidered in blue.

If you recognise him, or have any other information about the incident which might help police, call 101, quoting crime reference number 60123/16.
