A WOMAN has suffered serious injuries following a collision between two cars on a Suffolk road next to the A14.
The crash happened outside a garden centre in Tot Hill, near Haughley, between a red Suzuki Alto and a black VW Golf.
Emergency services arrived to find a 20-year-old woman with her pelvis and legs trapped in one of the cars and suffering serious injuries.
Firefighters from Elmswell, Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket were called to the scene and released the woman shortly before 9am.
The stretch of road just off the A14 was closed to traffic until 10.35am to allow for the arrival of the air ambulance.
The woman was airlifted to Ipswich Hospital with leg and pelvis injuries.
Hundreds of drivers on the eastbound A14 will have seen the drama unfold on their way to work this morning.
The road where the crash happened is the old A14, a former dual carriageway. Police are investigating whether that played a part in the crash.
