A WOMAN is recovering from whiplash injuries today after her car flipped over leaving her trapped inside.

The accident happened at the junction of West End Road and Handford Road at about 3pm on Saturday. The woman was driving a grey K-reg Peugeot 106 when a Ford Escort heading along Handford Road towards the town centre was in collision with her car from behind.

Employees of nearby Coopers car dealers said they heard a loud bang and a crash as the car flipped over.

Two fire crews and a pump rescue ladder had to be called to cut the woman free.

One ambulance and a rapid response vehicle also attended the scene and the woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
