An Ipswich women’s group dedicated to raising money for good causes celebrated its first birthday with cake and dancing.
WomenKIND was launched in March 2016 by Claire Bewley, 40, and since then it has hosted monthly networking and social events for women of all walks of life.
To mark its year milestone, the group held a party at Henley Community Centre where it handed out cheques totalling £500 to the Ipswich Hospital Baby Bereavement Group, The Moses Project and Tiffers – The Bus Shelter Ipswich.
Jo Darby Theatre School put on a jazz dance class for the members, who also enjoyed cakes donated by Bakes of Suffolk and bouquets given by Lucy Jane Flowers.
Mrs Bewley, who runs the committee alongside Natasha Houston, Vicky Dreher and Jennifer Woodhatch, said: “We wanted to give back to the smaller charities in our local communities, the ones that get missed sometimes.”
Another aim of WomenKIND is to enable members to try fresh experiences and make new friends, Mrs Bewley added.
