RENOVATION of a community hall will receive an extra boost by the end of the month - with the installation of a new power supply.

The recent addition of an annexe, and expansion of the kitchen, at Woodbridge Community Hall mean that the existing power supply is inadequate to cope with the extra demands being placed upon it.

A new, more powerful supply, costing £9,000 should be in place by the end of the month boosting the hall's capacity to cater for different functions.

This is the latest in a number of refurbishments the hall has undergone during the past eighteen months, including the installation of an amplifier with induction loop system for the hard of hearing, new windows and new stage curtains.

Fred Reynolds, treasurer of the community hall management committee, said: "The hall is used by hundreds of different groups, ranging from bridge clubs to dancing classes, and is run solely on the profit it makes from bookings.

"We have no input from the council at all. This means we rely on continual support from the community and the hard work of our committee members."

A team of committee members will be working in the hall all week carrying out general maintenance and repairs.

Committee member Peter Bacon said: "What we are doing here is just part of a continuous programme of maintenance to the hall. We are always looking at ways of improving it and there's always more work to be done."
