POLICE searching for a Suffolk sex attacker are investigating new leads after receiving calls offering fresh information.

As a direct result of media appeals about the indecent assault of a 53-year-old woman in Woodbridge, police have received three calls volunteering information.

Officers are also following up details gathered from anniversary checks a week after the attack on Thursday, January 24, at the Oak Lane car park. The victim was assaulted as she bought a parking ticket.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who may recognise the description of the attacker or may have seen a man of similar appearance in the area.

Acting Detective Sergeant Trevor Prior said: "We still need to know who this man is. As a result of appeals and our investigations we have received some interesting information but we would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in Woodbridge or may be able to give us a name.

"You might think your contribution is insignificant but it could help us piece together the details we have in order to trace this man."

The sex attacker is white, in his early 60s, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build and with grey or silvery coloured hair which was brushed back and neatly cut but receding on top. He had a long face, a Suffolk accent and appeared fit for his age. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a burgundy bomber jacket with a centre zip and smart grey trousers.

Anyone with information should contact Woodbridge police on 01473 383460.
