Thousands of lights and baubles were added to the long-awaited traditional Ipswich Christmas tree on Monday - we asked people in Ipswich what they thought of it.
For the last few years Ipswich has had an artificial bauble tree however, this year a real traditional tree is in its place.
The artificial tree has been relocated to the Ipswich Waterfront near to the University of Suffolk’s question mark sculpture. It is the first time the Waterfront has had a Christmas tree.
The Christmas lights in the town will be switched on this Thursday, November 16, by mayor Sarah Barber, her four-year-old nephew, and 91-year-old John Morley - who abseiled down the Ipswich Hospital maternity building dressed as Spiderman.
Festivities kick off at 4.45pm with the lights being turned on at 7pm. The mayor said: “I am looking forward to this immensely, particularly as John says he will be in his Spiderman costume again but I hope he resists the temptation to abseil down the town hall!”
