A YACHT has been rescued after it came into difficulty off the Suffolk coast.
The 10-metre long yacht, which has four Belgium crewmen on board, suffered massive gear failure at about 12.40pm today while about 10 miles east of Southwold.
A coastguard spokesman said: “They were in a lot of difficulty. It was quite rough seas with gale force winds and the problem was exacerbated from our point of view with the lack of communication with the crew because they cannot speak English.”
The yacht is in the process of being escorting to Lowestoft by a lifeboat from the town. They have been assisted by a rescue helicopter from Wattisham Airfield.
