Yates’ Wine Lodge is set to open its doors in Ipswich town centre again on August 25 – nearly a decade after it was last seen in the town.

The venue, on Tower Ramparts, was sold to JD Wetherspoon in 2008 which converted it into the Robert Ransome pub.

However Wetherspoons has recently reorganised its pub estate – and sold the Robert Ransome to Stonegate Pub Company earlier this year.

That announced it would be reopening as Yates – and now work is well in hand to prepare the building for its reopening.

Signs have gone up announcing the re-opening date at the start of the August Bank Holiday weekend.

During the 1990s and early 2000s Yates’ was one of the most popular and lively venues in Ipswich – but was sold when the national chain had a major restructuring at the start of the recession.

Yates’ has retained a venue in Colchester which has remained a popular venue in that town.
