SUFFOLK'S youngest county councillor is a 24-year-old Conservative after he won a by-election.

Ben Redsell, of Melton Meadows Road, Melton, was voted in for the Woodbridge division in a five-way battle.

SUFFOLK'S youngest county councillor is a 24-year-old Conservative after he won a by-election.

Ben Redsell, of Melton Meadows Road, Melton, was voted in for the Woodbridge division in a five-way battle. He polled 990 votes in yesterday's vote and had a reduced majority of 123 compared with the last election in 2001 when the Conservatives had a majority of 975.

In second place was Diana Ball for the Liberal Democrats with 867 votes. The other results were: Roy Burgon (Labour) 194, Jervis Kay (English Democrats) 139 and John Forbes (Green) 71. The turnout was 32% and there were 493 postal votes among the 2,268 votes.
