AN Ipswich youngster has been on a VIP trip to London as welcome relief to her life spent battling with muscular dystrophy.

Bethany Woods, her parents Treena and Kevin, and her brother Ryan, were treated courtesy of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

The charity grants wishes to young people aged three to 17 living with life-threatening illnesses.

The Woods family, of Cecil Road, near the town centre, went to London on Sunday, June 17, and were put up in the Hilton Metropole Hotel for two nights.

They were limo-driven to the Disney store in Oxford Street where the Cinderella character met Bethany.

They also had a ride on the London Eye, an aquarium visit and a tour of the city.

Mrs Woods said: “The Disney store staff treated Beth superbly and she was overwhelmed with gifts. Ryan was treated too, which was lovely.

“The London Eye was a wonderful experience and Beth was fascinated by the aquarium.

“The whole experience is something she will always remember.”

Tessa Moore, of Disney, said: “We hope Bethany's trip to London was truly magical, and that she enjoyed meeting Cinderella. Our involvement in this trip is part of Disney's ongoing commitment to supporting our local community.”

Bethany, five, was hospitalised for a month earlier this year and when The Evening Star printed her story she was sent get well soon messages from across the world.
