GET ready to party because Ipswich's pop extravaganza is only a week away.

In seven days time the town will play host to some of music's biggest names and some of the most promising chart stars of the future.

For one night only they are coming together under one roof for nearly three hours of top entertainment at Party in the Dark.

And the Evening Star is not only giving readers the chance to be there at the Corn Exchange next Friday, with five pairs of VIP tickets up for grabs, but we are also giving you the chance to put your questions to the stars.

The bumper line-up of stars taking to the stage in Ipswich next week now includes nearly 20 acts.

Liberty X, who recently wowed a crowd of 100,000 people with their performance for One Big Sunday in Chantry Park, are headlining the event.

S Club Juniors, who on Sunday entered the singles charts at number two with their second hit, Automatic High will be joining them.

911, one of the biggest British boybands of the past decade, who enjoyed a string of top ten hits and several number ones, and chart and CITV stars allSTARS, are on their way too.

And this is not to mention four Pop Idol finalists – Hayley Evetts, Jessica Garlick, who also came third as the UK's representative in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Korben and Rik Waller.

But the list of acts set to perform at Party in the Dark does not end there.

Blazin' Squad whose debut single Crossroads can be frequently heard on Radio 1 are performing, as too will Ipswich-based crew Alliance, whose album Skyz Da Limit has become the biggest selling local album ever at the town's Virgin store.

Completing the current line-up are Evidence, Boysterous, Bless'd, Charli, Rebekka Gayle, Felony, 4-Play and Rachel White.

It promises to be a night to remember and the Evening Star has got pairs of VIP tickets to give away to five lucky readers.

The tickets will ensure the winners have one of the best views of the concert and may even give them the chance to meet some of the stars.

Second segement of story

To be in with a chance of getting your hands on a pair, answer the following question:

Hayley Evetts, Jessica Garlick, Korben and Rik Waller were all finalists in Pop Idol this year but who won the competition?

Send your answer with your name, address and daytime telephone number, to Party in the Dark Competition, c/o Jo Macdonald, Evening Star, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, IP4 1AN. Entries to be received no later than August 7.

The Evening Star will also be at Party in the Dark on the night chatting to as many of the stars as possible and we want to give readers the opportunity to ask the questions.

Is Hayley really Gareth Gates' girlfriend? Are Liberty X still friends with Hear'Say? Do the girls and boys in S Club Juniors really get on?

Whatever your question, this is your chance to ask it. We can't promise we'll be able to ask them all but we'll do our best.

Send your question, with details of who which of the bands it's for along with your name, age and address, to Question the Stars, c/o Jo Macdonald, Evening Star, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, IP4 1AN or email them to joanne.macdonald@eveningstar.co.uk.
