Ipswich Operatic and Dramatic Society (IODS) is on the look out for a dog to join the cast of its forthcoming production of Anything Goes and will be holding open auditions to discover a potential canine star on March 12.
The company is in particular looking for a well-behaved and placid lap dog, like a Yorkshire or West Highland Terrier or similar breed.
The chosen dog – and owner – will be required to attend every show when the production of the hit musical takes to the stage at Ipswich Regent from April 4 to 9. There will be nightly shows, as well a Saturday matinee.
On top of this the dog will be required for a few rehearsals in the run-up to opening night.
Publicity officer Shaun Whymark said: "The part is integral to the plot and story although he or she will appear on stage infrequently.
