The page promotes the history of Ipswich, with users sharing their memories from their childhood and hometown.

From vintage pictures of Woolworths on Carr Street to the ABC Cinema in the Buttermarket, memories are posted onto the group on an hourly basis and can spark a lot of discussion as users reflect on days gone by in the town.

The page has even helped to reunite long lost school friends and neighbours, and has members who now live abroad.

We’ve chosen a selection of photographs that have been posted onto the page in recent weeks.

Among them is a picture of the F.J. Elsey shoe shop on Felixstowe Rd, The shop closed in 1983.

Jane Tuohey, daughter of the couple who owned the shop, said: “It was run with excellence for nearly 20 years, really like a fine tuned machine, sellling the best quality shoes for miles around and giving quality service.

“Mum and Dad bought the shop in the 60s. Dad had a motor bike and Mum a bicycle, we lived on Shafton Road, so it was a long bike ride for Mum.

“She is going to be 95 in a couple of months and has been a very fit lady all her life.

“Dad sadly passed unexpectedly on December 26, 2015.”

Another was a picture of Victor Suttle in 1941, who worked for the Co-op milk delivery service.

The picture was contributed by Victor’s son, Steve Suttle, who said: “Dad worked for the Co-op milk delivery service for as long as I can remember, mostly in the Norwich Road area.

“He worked out of Boss Hall depot on Sproughton Road, working his way up to supervisor. Then he moved to the Derby Road depot, behind where Aldi is currently, as depot supervisor.

“He also worked out of the Felixstowe depot as well.

“He often used to take me to work at 4am when I was on school holidays...I even got to drive the milk float.

“Great memories of this time.”
