TWO teenagers were set to appear in court today accused of causing damage at a Felixstowe corner shop.

The 16-year-olds who cannot be named for legal reasons were arrested after incidents at Constable Stores in Cobbold Road last month.

Police were called in after receiving reports from the shop owner about alleged damage to the premises.

The first incident happened on April 10 when damage was caused to the inside of the general stores and newsagents at around 1.40pm.

Two days later, there was another incident involving a fire outside the premises, which stand on the corner of Cobbold and Constable Roads.

Firefighters were called after the shop owner saw smoke spreading from an area next to the doors. One fire crew attended the incident, cut away a piece of timber frame from the shop's front window, and damped down thoroughly.

It was not known what had started the fire, which caused minor damage, and the shop was able to continue to open for business.

Police arrested six teenagers and all were released on bail while investigations took place.

Two were due to appear today before South East Suffolk Youth Court accused of criminal damage. The other four have been released from their bail and face no charges in connection with the incidents.
