Ipswich Witches will begin their 2023 Premiership speedway season at home to Peterborough Panthers.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, March 23, with the return at Peterborough four nights later.

It's the start of a run of five out of seven of the opening fixtures for the Witches which are all at home.

At the end of March and start of April, Ipswich open their KO Cup campaign with home and away clashes with new boys Leicester.

Ipswich face the other six teams in the division four times over the course of the season, twice at home and twice away with the top four at the end of the season qualifying for the play-offs.

The cut-off for completion of Premiership fixtures is 31st August, with the month of September reserved for the play-offs and the KO Cup Final.

The Premiership Pairs continues this season with a reduced calendar of three rounds at Wolverhampton, King’s Lynn and Ipswich.

The British Final will take place on 14th August at The National Speedway Stadium.

Meanwhile Premiership champions Belle Vue will launch their defence of the title in a repeat of last season’s Grand Final at Sheffield on Thursday March 23.

The Aces clinched top-flight gold for the first time in 29 years in a dramatic decider live on Eurosport and discovery+ at Owlerton last October, and the 2023 fixture list shows them clashing with the Tigers again on the opening night of competition – with the return taking place four days later (March 27) at the National Speedway Stadium.

Newcomers Leicester go into action at Premiership level for the first time on March 30 when they take on Ipswich in the KO Cup, whilst Wolverhampton and King’s Lynn open their league campaigns at Monmore Green on April 3.

Easter Monday (April 10) provides a traditional home-and-away double-header between Belle Vue and Wolverhampton in the KO Cup, as well as a league clash between Peterborough and Leicester.

The Premiership Pairs, as previously reported, will take place over three rounds this year, and the staging venues have now been finalised as Wolverhampton (May 15), King’s Lynn (June 29) and Ipswich (August 3). The British Final will take place at Belle Vue on Monday August 14.
