IT WAS an enjoyable weekend for Eye's Ian Crane as he scored an unbeaten half-century after grabbing a five-wicket haul to lead his side to victory over Felixstowe Corinthians in Section C.

Hosts Corinthians struggled to post a good total with only Baker (38) and Laws (21) making significant contributions before they were finally bowled out for 117.

Crane helped himself to five Felixstowe wickets, and conceded just 13 runs in his seven overs.

He then proved the mainstay of the Eye run-chase scoring 57, with good support fom Huggins (43) to wrap up the victory.

In Section A Thomas Mills failed to keep up the pressure on leaders Wortham as they were beaten at home by Sudbourne Hall.

Alan Jeffrey (41) and Martin Stratford (44no) pushed the hosts up to a respectable 147 for 6, but Sudbourne were able reach the target with two wickets still intact.

The local derby between Bawdsey and Melton St Audrey's proved to be a low-scoring affair but was a good contest with the home side eventually coming out on top.

Doug Andrews scored 55, but was given no support by the rest of his side as St Audrey's were dismissed for just 97.

They fought back well with Justin Cattermole taking 4 for 28, but King hit 28 to take Bawdsey to victory.

Section B leaders Yoxford suffered a rare defeat when they travelled to Worlingworth who were inspired by Rush's unbeaten century as the home side rattled up 234 for 6.

Yoxford got close, but eventually fell 18 runs short, although there were good contributions from Mears (40), Brook (29) and Collins (28).

Saxmundham lost their unbeaten record in Section D last week against Stradbrooke, and were beaten for the second time in succession when they hosted Pettistree.

The home team posted what seemed to be a competitive target of 201 for 6, with Dean Barker and David Driver leading the way with scores of 61 and 54 respectively.

Pettistree were unfazed and cruised to a nine wicket victory thanks to a century from Bradford and 66 from Thurkeale.
