BILL Athey is definitely out of Suffolk's one-day match against Bedfordshire on Sunday after undergoing surgery to his left knee last Tuesday.

Athey, who had an operation on the knee during the winter, will be out for five weeks but hopes to be fit for the quarter-final, should Suffolk qualify.

The winners of Sunday's match will be at home to Sussex Cricket Board in the quarter-finals on Thursday, August 1, with a home draw to follow in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Clacton all-rounder Ian Morton will make his Minor Counties Championship debut for Suffolk in the match against Cumberland starting at Bury St Edmunds today.

He replaces Mark Geeves, the young Bury St Edmunds all-rounder, who misses out on playing at his home ground in the three-day fixture after making his debut in the eight-wicket defeat at Northumberland last week.

The Suffolk side shows two other changes, with Chris Swallow returning in place of his Clacton colleague Mark Jones and Matt Catley replacing the injured Andy Brown.
