Cue hundreds of football games in a matter of days, a darts-fest on TV, an American sports bonanza on the big day and that most enduring of Crimbo traditions, the World's Strongest Man.
I can't fight it though - I love Christmas. And in that fine festive spirit - nothing to do with the red wine being quaffed as I pen this - I've drawn up a little wish list for the coming sporting year.
