COLCHESTER United boss Aidy Boothroyd was left delighted with his side's ability to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.

The U's had to wait until the 80th minute for Kayode Odejayi's winner in a scrappy match, the U's cashing in on the controversial dismissal of defender Peter Clarke minutes earlier.

It was a display worlds apart from Tuesday night's 3-0 victory over Charlton, the windy conditions playing a big part, but ultimately the records will show a third successive home win for Colchester.

"It was an awful game," admitted Boothroyd. "Huddersfield came to spoil it, they played with a back five and came to counter-attack. I expected that would happen at some stage with us, but perhaps two or three weeks down the line.

"It wasn't a particularly good spectacle, but we dealt with the weather better and won it."
