A FIRST-half goal from Brame won Omnico-Cup-losing semi-finalists Ipswich Athletic victory against a side who meet Walsham in the final on May 14.

The first action saw B Hubbard flash a shot narrowly wide of the visitors' post. Minutes later Hazleton's well-struck free-kick was well saved by Johns. The resulting corner saw Ellers head tamely goalwards.

Hazleton's tackle rescued Mustoe after a poor attempted clearance. Calver turned sweetly in the Stanton penalty area but his drive was well saved by Mustoe.

Poor defending from Stanton was punished by Brame who side-footed what proved to be the winning goal.

Athletic started brightly creating several chances which Mustoe and Manning were equal to protecting the Stanton goal.

A neat free-kick from Athletic undid the Stanton defence but Karantzis shot over. Good work from Brame found Ford whose shot was well blocked by the Stanton defence.

Ford broke Stanton's offside trap but shot into the side netting when he should have crossed. Strong hold-up play from Hubbard gave Hazelton a chance to turn and shoot but his effort was comfortably saved.

Hubbard's brave header almost resulted in a Stanton goal but the ball drifted wide of the post. Stanton rallied late on but Athletic earned the points.
