IPSWICH Evening Star Witches will have plenty of drive in their British League Cup side in 2003.

They have agreed a deal with 15-year-old James Brundle, a relation of former Formula One racing driver Martin Brundle.

The youngster is one of the most promising riders in the country and he averaged 8.49 for Mildenhall in the Conference League this year.

Brundle, who will be 16 in two weeks time, will not ride in the Witches Sky Sports Elite League side.

"He is not ready for that yet," said Ipswich promoter John Louis today. "But I have been impressed when he has ridden at Foxhall and am looking forward to playing a part in his progress.

"With Kim Jansson we now have two youngsters who will boost our League Cup side."

Brundle, who will continue to ride full-time for Mildenhall, is currently in Australia.

He will be a free agent until he is 17 and he began last season with King's Lynn before moving to West Suffolk-based Mildenhall.

This time next year Ipswich will be in a good position to make Brundle one of their assets.

Joonas Kylmakorpi is set to join the ranks of the floaters. He has agreed a deal with Premier League Arena-Essex to join Leigh Lanham and Kelvin Tatum as heat leaders and is also expected to ride at reserve for his parent club Eastbourne.

Ipswich are still waiting to hear from Coventry about the possible availability of top Americans Greg Hancock and Billy Hamill as they seek a third heat leader to join Scott Nicholls and Jarek Hampel.
