AFTER this defeat Capel have dropped to 15th position in the league with 13 points which just leave Leiston St Margaret below them with six.
They have only themselves to blame after a poor first half but their performance in the second half could have given them at least a point. As for Old Newton they started off looking likely to score a hat-full of goals but like Capel their finishing left a lot to be desired.
Lee Bryant's speed caused the Capel defence problems and it was him who had the first chance but his effort was well saved by Nick Hunt. Then Gary Collins with a free header send his attempt straight into Matt Paisley's hands.
Old Newton took the lead in the 30th minute when Paul Evans shot was parried out to Nick Zarko by Nick Hunt for Zarko to make no mistake. A minute later a cross by Lee Bryant was headed in by Zarko for his and old Newton's second. Capel had what looked a good case for a penalty turned down so three pints for old Newton which keep their championship hopes alive.
