Former Team Ipswich swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn clinched a well-deserved bronze medal for Great Britain at the European Short-Course Championships in Denmark.

The Bury St Edmunds swimmer now based at the University of Bath clinched a joint-third, along with France’s Camille Lacourt, in a personal best time of 50.44s, having switched his focus from the longer 200m to the shorter 50m and 100m.

Walker-Hebborn will now turn his attentions to the Dual in the Pool event which is a competition between the USA and Europe’s best swimmers.

After the race, Walker-Hebborn tweeted: Finally! European Bronze, thank you for all the support, couldn’t be happier right now. Great start to the season, roll on 2014.”

Vitali Melnikov of Russia was second with French swimmer Jeremy Stravius taking gold.
