Christchurch 5 Lowestoft 3

AN emphatic victory taken in splendid style saw Christchurch emerge with all three league points against the seasiders. With memories of a shared 10-goal thriller in the away match, Christchurch were expecting several goals especially after their barren draw last week.

Lowestoft opened the scoring from a penalty corner but within five minutes Christchurch were level. From a short corner a blistering shot from Van Coote reduced the deficit. Minutes later Coote turned provider, leaving Debbie Clements to clip in an angled shot from the left that ricocheted in off the post. The lead was short lived as at the other end Lowestoft equalised. Five minutes before half time another penalty corner saw Debbie Clements' shot for goal come off a defender's stick and fly into the visitors' net, allowing them to take a previous lead into the interval.

Players and supporters expecting more goals were not disappointed as in the first minute of the second half Lowestoft equalised with Linzie Everett in goal rooted to the spot and unable to make the necessary save.

The equaliser seemed to spur Christchurch on and from a quick hit out by Sam Dean and positive play by Becky Gray and Clements the latter supplied an inch perfect cross for Lenor Devenish-Meares to score in only her third appearance. With 10 minutes remaining Christchurch made the result and points beyond doubt when a short corner routine and a quick interchange between the wily Clements and Coote saw Debbie Clements unleash a fierce shot to complete her hat-trick and a fabulous result in the sun!
