Bob finished his year as captain and a
successful one it had been, with the veterans winning more matches than they lost against other clubs.
There was an excellent turn-out for Bob's final meeting as captain with a team competition finished by a Christmas lunch and draw for which all prizes had been donated by the members.
From a golfing point of view, Bob did not end his year on the highest note, picking up the booby prize for the lowest individual Stableford score!
The team competition was decided by the best and worst score of each team of four and the winners were by Brian Cobb, Mike Olding, Mo Vincent and Roy Roskams.
In fact, Mike Olding had the best score of the day – 41 points – and he won the Ken Mann Trophy.
The putting prize, for the least number of putts during the round, was taken by Jim Fuller.
And the mystery prize, for the best score on the last four holes, was collected by Dennis Crapnell.
Tony Benneworth picked up another prize for being nearest the pin at the fourth hole.
On Tuesday, January 8, Brian Cobb will drive in as next year's veterans' captain. And Brian will be hoping for an equally successful 12 months as that which Bob Burroughs has enjoyed.
