DANNY Batth says he is loving his Colchester United experience.
The 19-year-old centre-half arrived at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a month's loan from Wolves having only ever played for the Premier League club's reserve side.
But the teenager has looked like an experienced pro so far and was deservedly named man-of-the-match against Huddersfield on Saturday.
“It's been lovely,” said Batth, whose quiet Midlands voice is in contrast to his towering stature.
“We have definitely got a good thing going here and I just hope the fans appreciate what I'm trying to do for the team.”
Asked whether he would like to extend his temporary spell in Essex, Batth said: “That's up to the gaffer, I'm just taking every game as it comes.
“I'm enjoying it down here and it's been great to get some Football League experience.
“We've got a good set of lads here and if one of us is off their game the others will pick them up.”
U's boss Aidy Boothroyd was full of praise for his loan signing. He said: “You wouldn't have thought that was young Danny's fourth professional game would you?
“I'm thankful to Mick McCarthy for loaning him to us because it can be hard to get players from the Premier League.”
