Needham Market 0 Hadleigh 1
A keenly fought local derby was decided by a second-half goal from Chris Dennett to enable Hadleigh to maintain third position in Division One.
For much of the time it looked as if Needham would be snatching the vital goal as they had more of the play. Just before the interval Hadleigh's goalkeeper Wayne Donovan was extended to reach Wake's shot and then in the 63rd minute Briggs broke through but again Donovan made a great save.
Hadleigh never looked threatening until being awarded a penalty kick after 73 minutes when Dennett was fouled by Hart. But goalkeeper Holland dived to his left to push away the spot-kick from Miles Donovan.
Three minutes later Welton rolled a short pass into the path of Dennett and Holland stood no chance as the Hadleigh striker drove powerfully into the net from the edge of the area.
From then on Hadleigh were the better side and just before the end Holland made a fine save from Bradford.
Before the start Hadleigh presented skipper Archie Arnold with a silver tankard in recognition of 250 appearances for the senior side.
