IF there is a Saturday club looking for a new ground this could be their lucky day.

The Greshams Sports and Social Club, Tuddenham Road, Ipswich has a vacancy for a Saturday side with two teams.

Managing director of the independent club Barry Turner says: "Until this season we were the home of Willis and Kesgrave United and Agilent Technolgies FC. But at the 11th hour the latter decided they were unable to raise a side.

"With a shortage of pitches in the Ipswich area, it may be that a club is seeking a site it can use as a headquarters."

Greshams began life as GRE Sports Club, and it then became AXA. The sports club was the subject of a management buy-out earlier this year and is now in private hands.

"We feel we have some of the best facilities in the county, with playing surfaces and changing facilities as good as you will find anywhere in the area," said Turner.

The club also boasts a licensed bar and catering facility.

Rules affecting changing accommodation within the Metaltec SIL mean that a club cannot play in the SIL Senior Division at Greshams.

Clubs interested in inspecting the facilities should contact Turner on Ipswich 342005 or e-mail barryturner@greshams.fsworld.co.uk.

N (SQUARE) Taverners enjoy Greshams' facilities on Sundays and run teams in Divisions One and Three of the Selectic Technical Services League. They are short of a goalkeeper and would appreciate hearing from anybody who can fit the bill. Calls to Bob Bullamore on Ipswich 729586 please.
