IPSWICH Town could get an unexpected windfall after Newcastle United pulled the plug on Kieron Dyer's move to West Ham after suddenly upping their asking price.
The Blues get 20 per cent on any profit Newcastle make over £6m on a Dyer transfer but didn't look likely to get anything after the Magpies and Hammers agreed a £5m initial deal rising by a further £1m with add-ons.
But the Newcastle board did a last minute U-turn and are now demanding £7m up front with an extra £1m in bonuses, that would net Town £200,000.
West Ham refused to pay the extra and Dyer returned to the north-east despite having agreed personal terms and successfully completing a medical.
Dyer is keen to leave St James' Park so he can be nearer his family in Ipswich, and Newcastle fans will not welcome him back, with a hate mob vandalising his car last week.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City were previously linked with Dyer and it may be that another club will pay the increased asking price.
